Oh Two-dles! Second Birthday Decor
This past Sunday we celebrated our toddlers second birthday! I literally can’t believe it’s been 2 years since we were blessed with the sweetest little girl! I normally am not one to host parties (although I LOVE to decorate and DIY) I figured it would be nice to have a little party with all the people that have been there for her these past 2 years. For this years theme, I decided on “TWO-dles” since she loves Mickey and Minnie Mouse. I searched Pinterest high & low for ALL the inspiration and found a lot of great ideas. I figured I would share all the things I did and used to make her second birthday extra special!

The first thing I made was this banner out of a kraft paper roll we had in the garage. However here are some similar options! Make sure the roll is at least 30″ W if you want a good size banner like the one above. I’ve seen similar rolls online that are like 15″ which will be too small. So just be careful ordering.
For the invitations, I used this template from Etsy and also used elements from the invitations to make a banner mockup in Canva. When you make the banner mockup, measure out how big you want the canvas to be (example 30×55 and you will add those dimensions to canva) then start creating your design. Once your design is ready, use a projector to project it to the Kraft paper and start painting!

For the windows, I used some streamers I got from Michaels and the balloons came from this kit from Amazon. The balloons came with string to tie around them (if you wanted to use helium) however, I just got this garland assembly kit and attached the balloons to it and arranged them how I wanted. I taped it to the windows and it created this balloon garland. You can get smaller balloons to tape to the garland to fill in the smaller gaps as well.

I wish I took pictures of the desserts, but they were pretty much all gone before I had the chance to! I made Oreo mickeys and rice Krispy Minnie’s! Here are the recipes I used:
Oreo Mickey Recipe – I found some heart sprinkles at Michaels and added them to some of the Oreos to make bows, but you can just skip that or add the little sprinkles to make Mickey’s buttons.
Minnie Rice Krispy – I actually used pink chocolate wafers to dip them in, but you can use whatever color you want.
These are the wafers I used, they come in many colors!
These are the Sandwich Cutters I used to cut out the Minnie shape in the rice krispies!

I created the above graphic in Canva and printed it out and put it next to the treats. I used a photo of my daughter that I cropped to just have her face, searched for Minnie ears on Canva and found those and just added those to her head. (I used a cartoon image as an example for privacy).

I made this sign super last minute. I was debating on even making it, but I’m extra so I had to. I just used this black glitter 12×12 cardstock I had.. I cut out a large circle and then two smaller ones and then used my pink glitter cardstock to trace out a bow and cut it out and just taped it all together. I then created the text in canva, printed it out on colored cardstock and attached it to the sign. (You will have to download the Disney font and upload it to canva)
Here is the font – you can search “disney” on this website and so many options will come up if you want a different font!

The “Minnie Mouse Happy Birthday” graphic on the TV was a hit. So many people asked how I did it. I just searched on youtube Minnie Happy Birthday and this hour long video came up. You can edit the settings to “repeat” and I put it on mute because it sings happy birthday over and over.

There are some party kits that include Minnie ears, but the one I ordered did not. I decided to just make some ears out of felt (added cardstock in between for stability) and glued them on some hair clips. I made little space buns in her hair and just clipped them in and she surprisingly kept them on all day! I knew a headband might bother her so the clips were perfect!

The balloons that came with the kit from Amazon were fine, except the “2” ended up popping as soon as it got filled up at the store. I would just run to the dollar store the day before and grab a number balloon from there or Michaels.
Food Items
Instead of a cake, we just got a 24 pack of cupcakes from our local grocery store and we used the cupcake toppers that came with the decor kit and added them to the cupcakes.
Our party time was from 1-3pm, so I figured people may come hungry, we got a sandwich platter from HEB (our local grocery store) and it came with 24 mini sandwiches. We got two packs of those and we realized we may only needed 1 pack since we had so many left over. We had about 17 people at the party.
We got a bag of chips and set it in a bowl, we got a fruit and veggie platter (that we forgot to set out during the party). We also set out mayo and mustard for the sandwhiches. We set out some ice for the drinks. We had pink lemonade (pink le-minnie-ade), sweet tea and coke.
For the kids
We didn’t have many kids at the party, it was mostly adults (family and friends) but I did set up an “activity table” on our coffee table that she loved. I set out crayons and printed out coloring sheets from Pinterest. Just search on Pinterest “Minnie birthday coloring sheets) and there are so many options!
If you have more kids at your party, you can do a piΓ±ata with treats inside, Minnie and Mickey mouse ears for them to wear, pin the bow on Minnie game, decorate your own cookie.. just some ideas I would of done!
utensils/napkins etc
I got all my pink napkins, cups, plates, utensils all at the dollar tree! They also had serving tools, bowls, platters, table covers and so much more. Don’t skip out on this! They have so many different colors to go with any theme.
I hope you got some good ideas for your little ones birthday! Let me know if you tried any of these tips!
