10 small ways to make your home a little more cozy

If you’re anything like me, you’re always looking for ways to bring more warmth and personality into your home. The things you choose to decorate with can truly transform a space, turning it from just a house, into welcoming home.

I’ve rounded up 10 simple ways to make your home a little more cozy, and I can’t wait to share them with you!

1. Wallpaper

It’s amazing what adding wallpaper to a space does. As shown here by @astoldbymichelle, she was able to transform a basic modern white wall into something whimsical! Click the arrows to see the before. The wallpaper seems to be from @RiflePaperCo, you can get it here!

2. Plants

I love how plants were incorporated into almost every room. They instantly make a space feel alive and inviting! Beyond just looking beautiful, plants offer incredible health benefits, from purifying the air to boosting your mood. I came across this helpful article that dives deeper into how plants can benefit both your home and workspace.. definitely worth a read!

3. Gallery walls

The more we use our phones for photos and videos, the less we actually take the time to print and enjoy them. What better way to bring those memories to life than by creating a gallery wall in your home? I saved this post a while back because I loved seeing how it transformed a bare room into a warm, inviting space. You can make it even more personal and eclectic by mixing in some vintage frames from the thrift store.

4. Artwork

I know a lot of us want our homes to have a certain aesthetic, with the right colors and style. But adding your child’s artwork on a cute fabric board or cork board adds so much charm and makes your home feel “lived in” instead of like a model home. And it doesn’t have to be kids’ artwork, you could display your own crafts, sketches, or even a little scrapbook of memories.

5. Natural Materials

Adding natural materials like wood, metal, and glass instantly brings a sense of warmth and grounding to your home. These textures have a way of making a space feel more inviting and connected to nature. Pair them with soft, natural fabrics like cotton, linen, and wool to add even more coziness and create a space that feels warm and lived-in.

6. Quilts/Blankets

Nothing is better than curling up on the couch or bed with a cozy blanket. Just like you wrap yourself up in one, you can “wrap” your home in them too. Use them on your bed, drape them over the back of a chair or sofa, or even hang a quilt like a tapestry to add texture and warmth to your space.

7. Curtains

Soft curtains instantly make a room feel finished and inviting. Choose light, airy fabrics for a gentle, diffused glow during the day or heavier drapes if you want a cozy, cocoon-like feel at night.

8. Bows

Adding bows might seem small, but they bring such a sweet, charming touch. I may be biased (since I make and sell them) but they really add a cottage feel to the home. Tie them on baskets, hang them on wreaths, drawer pulls, or even around a vase, they add personality and make your space feel thoughtfully styled.

9. Simmering Pot

Décor isn’t the only way to add cozy vibes to your home, engaging all the senses can make an even bigger impact. Smell, especially, is tied to memories, which is why something as simple as a simmer pot can transform your space. Just toss a few slices of citrus, cinnamon sticks, or cloves into a pot of water and let it gently simmer. I’ve saved some fun recipes on Pinterest that are easy to try, and they’ll make your whole home smell warm and inviting.

10. Lamps

Nothing changes a room’s mood faster than good lighting. Swap harsh overhead lights for warm table lamps or floor lamps to create a soft, inviting glow in the evenings.
